Making Joints

Check if required that a permit to work has been validated and issued for the work to be carried out and the correct PPE and equipment is being used along with any procedures required for the work being done.

Check the piping specifications that the correct ancillary parts are being used such as the bolts, gaskets and any lubrication that may be required.

NOTE

Never use materials that may be damaged and the use of new gasket(s) is essential when assembling a joint.

Remember – any cross axial stresses induced into the pipe work may lead to insufficient compression on the gasket which could potentially lead to a system failure.
